Three retired Scots lawyers one * less retiring than the others, started thinking about what became the Milestones project in the aftermath of Covid-19.
Engaging with family, friends, colleagues convinced us that numbers of our fellow Scots agreed that there was a niche for our idea. Time was not of the essence for us so we spent months in discussion to arrive at the Objectives and the format of the website.
From family, friends and supporters we recruited a team to assist us. They have helped to : develop new ideas for services we might offer; build up the Milestones Memories Register; suggest new Good Causes share out the work and develop new ideas. Our team members (moderators, all volunteers) are, by their preference, known only by their initials or pen names:

How have we built up the Memories Register? The early Profiles are of our own families, friends, colleagues. Later Profiles come from our team and supporters – and from family and friends of theirs. Often of people, not family members, they have admired and fear will be forgotten. This we encouraged, reasoning that customers keen to see a hero or heroine remembered should be inclined to make a donation to help sustain the site.
We owe a debt of gratitude all who have helped us to populate the Register, enabling visitors to the site, like you, to realise, we hope, that it is there for you to make use of.

The Milestones project is conceived and presently financed by like-minded partners and supporters who share a belief in its Objectives.
A small team of moderators take cares of the daily business. They deal with emails received on our three principal email addresses:

registrations@milestonesscotland.co.uk to which forms for registration and enhancement are submitted.
Other Team members help with IT and administration.
The Profiles in Milestones Memories Register at launch have all been submitted by project partners, team members or supporters. Many of the Profiles are from, often of, their families, friends, colleagues. A number are of people they have admired and want to see remembered. (Some, to illustrate the range of Tributes we accept are from works of fiction.) We are grateful to all who have helped in the populating of Memories Register, enabling visitors to the site to make an assessment its potential for them.
These partners, team members and supporters have thus far funded the setting up and the continuing running costs of the project. After launch we are confident that sustaining the site will be achieved by donations and, particularly, sustaining payments. Find more detail in Funding the Project.
